When Hort Research Center in New Zealand crossed a Saaz male hop with a New Zealand First Choice hop, the result was the 2004 release of Pacific Jade. Featuring a uniquely intense aroma of citrus, herbs and crushed black pepper, this aromatic hop has become increasingly popular. This makes Pacific Jade a great choice for aroma additions in Lagers, as well as Pale Ales.
Though these hops do contain a high range of alpha acids from about 12% to 14%, but they are still considered primarily to be an aromatic hop. While not many hops provide a great substitution in lieu of Pacific Jade hops, Pacific Gem would work if you could find it.
All hops are packaged in oxygen, light and moisture barrier bags. They are purged with nitrogen and stored cold to optimize freshness. Resealable packages feature a tear notch and zipper.
